Evonik Litarion has signed its first lithium-ion deal since it was purchased by Canada’s Electrovaya.
The deal will see the Canadian firm’s subsidiary supply Leclanche with graphite NMC lithium-ion electrodes.
Both manufacturing and commercialisation of lithium-ion cells and Energy Storage Systems (ESS) forms part of the deal, which following months of joint collaboration between the companies.
The ESSs will incorporate electrodes from the German firm Litarion.
The two companies will build on Litarion’s decade of electrode manufacturing experience and Leclanche’s cell production know-how and capability implemented at its German subsidiary located in Willstaett.
