US lithium-ion manufacturer Oakridge Global Energy Solutions has opened its 70,000-square-foot state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
The $40 million facility in Palm Bay, Florida, has begun full commercial production and will fulfill orders immediately.
The company forecasts sales of its Pro Series lithium-ion batteries will reach around $250,000 for Q1 2016 as the first customers in the golf market and manufacturers of unmanned maritime vehicles place orders.
The opening marks a year-long transition from a primarily research and development company to a battery manufacturing company.
The company has also struck a strategic deal with Sojitz Machinery Corporation of Tokyo, Japan, which will supply and finance raw materials.
Oakridge CEO Steve Barber said: “We are excited that we have now begun regularly shipping our groundbreaking lithium-ion batteries to the golf cart and motorcycle markets, as well as a number of significant custom and semi-custom markets.
“This signifies the first time Oakridge is on a permanent, routine commercial production footing.”
