Russia nuclear energy firm Rosatom has incorporated Rosatom Energy Storage Solutions (RENERA) to develop and trade lithium-ion traction and stationary batteries.
RENERA, the new name of Cathode Materials, a 100% subsidiary of Russian nuclear fuel cycle firm TVEL (owned by Vladimar Putin founded Rosatom), will develop batteries for electric vehicles, and energy storage systems.
A RENERA spokesman told BEST the batteries would be developed at its research and development facility, in addition to producing energy storage systems at the sites of two TVEL manufacturing facilities in Russia.
The company is operating in the Russian market, but is considering markets in Europe and Asia and conducting negotiations with potential partners, said the spokesman.
A number of contracts have been implemented for modernization of logistics electric vehicles, as well as equipping substation DC systems and uninterrupted power supply systems with lithium-ion energy storage devices.
