Swedish energy storage developer Ingrid Capacity said it is building Sweden’s biggest energy storage system (ESS) for delivery in 2024.
It will use lithium-ion battery cells and although the company has not firmed up its chemistry or supplier of choice, lithium iron phosphate (LFP) is thought to be likely, industry sources said.
The 70MW/70MWh ESS will be sited in Karlshamn and will be part of E.ON’s regional grid.
In July, Ingrid Capacity signed an agreement with energy company Karlshamn Energi and the municipality of Karlshamn for a 3MW ESS, due to be operational in 2023.
