TAE Technologies, a US fusion energy company, said it formed a new subsidiary, TAE Power Solutions to “fundamentally improve” the efficiency of electric vehicles (EVs) and energy storage.
TAE said the proprietary technology platform is derived from fusion research. It is designed to deliver faster charging, stronger performance, bigger range, and longer battery life for e-mobility and stationary applications.
The company has developed a modular energy and power delivery solution that can incrementally scale and discharge with “highly flexible, efficient, and accurate bi-directional power on a sub-millisecond time scale.”
Kedar Munipella has been appointed chief executive officer. He joins TAE Power Solutions from Applied Materials, a Fortune 200 company. He spent 16 years there, most recently as vice president and general manager of a business unit dedicated to energy and environmental solutions.
TAE Power Solutions has made two strategic acquisitions in the UK: Sprint Power, one of the largest transport electrification specialists in Europe, and Eltrium, a maker of energy storage systems, power distribution, and electronic assemblies.
It said these acquisitions give an early foothold in existing projects, including APC18 CELERITAS, a programme for advanced battery systems with BMW and others.
