AES to build Hawaiian solar-storage facility

Work has started on a major solar and battery storage project on the Hawaiian island of Kauai.

AES Distributed Energy Inc., part of the US-based AES Corporation, is building the 20MW “five-hour duration” storage system on the island— together with a 28MW Oasis solar system from Silicon Valley-based SunPower Corp.

100MW battery storage array to stand on NI

AES UK & Ireland, a subsidiary of the Virgina-based power company AES Corporation, has signed a prosperity agreement* with the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) to develop a 100MW battery storage array.

Last year, AES has installed a 10MW lithium-ion battery energy storage plant at Northern Irealand’s largest power station, the Kilroot 660MW coal/oil power plant in Carrickfegus.

Renewable energy key driver in grid-scale energy deployment

North American firm AES Corporation will supply a total of 37.5MW of lithium-ion energy technology to a utility firm as the US continues to embrace energy storage for grid stabalisation.

Through its subsidiary, AES Energy Storage, the company signed two contracts with San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) to install and commission two arrays.

AES eyes global ESS markets with lithium-ion deals

North American firm AES Corporation has signed two alliance agreements as it looks to dominate the global market with its lithium-ion Advancion® energy storage platform.

Both deals have been made through AES’s subsidiary, AES Energy Storage, and expands the firm’s reach to two thirds of the world.
