Battery recycling is being made easier in Canada through a partnership between Call2Recycle Canada and the lead-acid focused Canadian Battery Association (CBA).
The collaboration will increase clarity and ease around recycling all consumer and up to 1,000kg batteries in Canada.
Canadians will have increased access to collection sites along with a focus on education, as the country fights to keep batteries out of landfills, said Joe Zenobio, executive director of Call2Recycle Canada, Inc.
Call2Recycle focuses on consumer single-use and rechargeable batteries weighing less than five kilograms.
CBA focuses on lead-acid batteries of all sizes, primarily gathered in industrial, commercial and institutional sectors.
The two companies will work together through their linked websites, collection events, 1-800 call centre and informational materials and where possible, will share operations and infrastructure.
