Battery maker East Penn Manufacturing has named Dan Langdon as new CEO after former CEO Sally Miksiewicz was killed in a car accident in June.
Dan Langdon joined East Penn as controller in 1986 and served as president of the company since 1994. Christopher Pruitt will take on Langdon’s position as president of automotive sales, finance and administrative areas. Miksiewicz’s brother, Dan Breidegam, will serve as chairman.
Sally Miksiewicz was killed on June 20 while jogging near her home. She was named CEO in December 2009 and had over three decades of experience in East Penn’s battery manufacturing business. She was the daughter of DeLight E. Breidegam Jr., who founded the company along with his father in 1946.
The driver, Mark Miller, who hit and killed Miksiewicz, was driving under the influence of drugs, according to investigators. Miller was charged with numerous offenses including involuntary manslaughter, reckless endangerment, driving at an unsafe speed and reckless driving.
