Italian lead-acid battery maker is reportedly in talks with majority owner Hitachi Chemicals to introduce new products and expand into new international markets.
Fiamm will focus on “increasing integration”, specifically for the automotive battery sector, in products and technological expertise with Hitachi, according to Italian automotive journal Notiziario Motoristico.
But Fiamm “will continue to produce starter batteries with lead technology and with particular focus on the replacement market”, the journal said.
Fiamm could not be contacted by BEST Battery Briefing for comment at the time of going to press.
Hitachi bought a 51% stake in Fiamm in 2016.
Last year, Hitachi announced plans to expand its reach in Asia, with the acquisition of a 43.9% stake in Thai Storage Battery.
