Two lead-acid separator firms are to share technology and integrate their Asian manufacturing and sales following a joint venture agreement.
ENTEK International and Indonesian firm Separindo are merging their knowledge to produce, sell and market polyethylene (PE) battery separators for flooded lead-acid batteries in Asia.
The agreement positions both companies to make and distribute separator products for batteries in the SLI, traction and stationary power markets in Asia.
Larry Keith, CEO of ENTEK, said: “This agreement fulfils the promise I made at the 2015 Asian Battery Conference that ENTEK would expand its manufacturing footprint to Asia.
“ENTEK will bring its best-in-the-class manufacturing technology to the partnership and we will immediately start expanding the existing capacity in Indonesia.
“I am also directing the ENTEK in-house design and manufacturing group to start the design work to add 60 million square meters per year production capacity to the Indonesian facility.
“This partnership will be the leader for lead-acid separators in Asia.”
“Our partnership with ENTEK will combine our individual strengths, making for a strong leader in the Asian battery market for lead-acid separators”, says Jungchan Kim, managing director for Separindo.
