Mark Stevenson said he was ‘very proud and humbled’ after wining the Lifetime Achievement award at the International Lead Zinc Development Conference in Mumbai, India.
Stevenson, the technical director of Global Lead Technologies, received the award 40 years to the day after starting his career as a metallurgist.
His career began at the former Australian mining group Pasminco, and has served companies including Ecoult and Ecobat Technologies. He is chairman of the Asian Battery Conference.
Stevenson told BEST: “To be honest it’s a bit humbling. I’ve had tremendous feedback and so many well wishes, I’m thinking that they are all after a beer next time I see them. Joking aside, I’m very proud of it and humbled.”
Announcing the honour, Dr Andy Bush, managing director of the International Lead Association, said: “Mark has a limitless willingness to help anyone who truly wants to see the industry succeed.
“He took over running the Asian Battery Conference and has turned it into one of the premier lead battery events in the world. It is fitting that he is being honoured for a lifetime’s achievement as he celebrates 40 years working in the lead industry.”
