Lithium-ion battery firm C4V and powertrain company Omega Seiki have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to introduce solid-state batteries into the Indian market.
Omega, part of Indian headquartered Anglian Omega Group, has teamed up with the US based C4V to make solid-state batteries for electric vehicles (EVs) and the renewable sector.
Initially, C4V will supply its 200Wh/kg lithium mixed metal phosphate batteries (BM-LMP) to Omega Seiki.
The batteries will be used in Omega Seiki’s range of EVs, the company said in a statement.
C4V plans to produce solid-state batteries with 300Wh/kg and 650Wh/l this year, with the goal of reaching 400Wh/kg with its generation 3 cells.
C4V founder Shailesh Upreti said: “India certainly requires best in class technology for domestic battery manufacturing and we are very excited and proud to bring this to India.
“Our manufacturing platform is highly compatible with countries yet to develop cell manufacturing supply chains. We are looking at a modest speed scale up to the target 5GW in three years from now.”
