In the North American lead market, Battery Council International reported 157,650,084 shipments of original equipment and replacement automotive batteries in the 12 months ending May 2024. This is up from 149,082,297 in the year ending May 2023.
In May 2024, there were 12,427,796 shipments, a rise of 1.67% year-on-year.
Shipments of replacemenet automotive batteries totalled 10,362,172 in May, down 4.57% from the month before, but up 2.38% year-on-year.
Original equipment automotive batteries shipped amounted to 2,065,624 in May 2024. This was a fall of 5.49% from April 2024 and a dip of 1.77% from the same month a year before.
