Belgian recycler Umicore said Veerle Slenders is to succeed Denis Goffaux as executive vice president, recycling. Goffaux is leaving the company on 31 May after 30 years.
Slenders brings nearly 30 years’ experience in various leadership roles in Europe and the US in business development, operations management as well as general and portfolio management. She has worked in the electronics, aviation, oil and gas, steel and chemicals markets.
She has experience in safety, health, environment and quality management. Slenders is strongly committed to diversity, inclusion and community engagement, the company said.
Geert Olbrechts, currently senior vice president of research & technology and supply at Umicore’s Automotive Catalysts business unit, becomes chief technology officer and member of the management board from 1 August.
In April, Umicore and Automotive Cells Company signed a long-term strategic supply agreement for electric vehicle (EV) cathode materials. Umicore will supply ACC’s European gigafactories with high nickel cathode materials from its greenfield production plant in Nysa, Poland.
ACC is a joint company between Stellantis, Mercedes-Benz and TotalEnergies together with its subsidiary Saft.
