Tianjin University has succeeded in developing a large capacity lithium-ion battery with the world’s largest capacity single cylindrical cells at 400Ah.
The battery is the first to utilise artificial neural network theory and fault-tolerance control technology during production
Tang Zhiyuan, Professor at Tianjin University and project manager, said the technology overcomes development problems of lithium batteries with improved safety, capacity, life and energy. The high capacity battery is suited to electric vehicles, Professor Zhiyuan the battery could reduce the overall weight of a bus by up to a third and costs by three quarters.
Tianjin University has now begun to commercialise the technology.
