The ground-breaking ceremony for Turkey’s first lithium-ion battery manufacturing plant was held by the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation owned battery company Aspilsan on 2 October.
The 24,000m2 facility is being built in Turkey’s Kayseri region and follows a construction agreement with Dost Construction in August.
Aspilsan sells lithium-ion aircraft/helicopter and energy storage batteries.
The company plans to complete the plant next year.
Aspilsan was established in Kayseri in May 1981, and is owned by the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation with a 98% share.
The company was launched to meet the basic needs of the Turkish Armed Forces, and is involved in making nickel-cadmium, nickel-metal hydride, lithium-ion and lithium-phosphorous batteries.
