United Arab Emirates lead-acid battery maker Eternity Technologies has opened its first plant in the US to make batteries for the forklift market.
The plant in Sherman, Texas, was opened in October to manufacture its full range of BCI 2-volt low maintenance and enhanced capacity batteries for the US, Mexican and Canadian markets.
The main facility is 40,000 square-foot and will have an annual capacity of more than 240,000 cells. The plant also includes space for battery assembly, acid filling and formation.
Next year the company, founded in 2009 as part of the Al Dobowi Group, will begin adding regional battery centers to assemble cells from Sherman into specific batteries.
There are four planned hubs in the US and one in Canada, although the firm is keeping quiet on the actual locations until they are 100% secured for competitive reasons.
2021 will also see the Ras Al Khaimah-based firm add products for the standby and solar markets.
