A roadmap to delivering 220GWh of battery production capacity and reducing lithium-ion costs by 65% has been revealed by an alliance of vehicle OEMs.
Renault Group, Nissan Motor, and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation have defined a common 2030 roadmap that includes projects and actions to accelerate their shared future on pure-EV mobility.
The aim is to bring all-solid-state battery technology (ASSB) to market, with Nissan leading innovations that will benefit all Alliance members.
The Alliance is working with “common partners” to enable it to reduce battery costs by 50% by 2026 and 65% within the following two years.
The aim is to mass produce ASSB by mid-2028 to realise cost parity with ICE vehicles by bringing costs down to 65$ per kWh.
In parallel with the alliance’s EV goals lays a common battery strategy that aims to bring a planned 220GWh of production capacity online for EV applications across key production sites in the world by 2030.
The Alliance is working with strategic partners to offer the best proposal to customers for public charging on the road.
